Decorate the house in French style: how?
I just got home, and before I start sorting all the photos and business cards, I reflect upon the French style, or better, upon what is usually associated to the Parisian style.
Pinterest is the best way to be inspired, and also to find out the guidelines of a style, a trend, a project.
If I had to list the tools you use to design, Pinterest would be one of the first: it’s a key element.
But, back to us. Decorating the house in French style is not easy, but neither’s it too complex. As it often happens, it is vital to find the right balance.
I tried to make a list.
10 elements to decorate the house in French style:
Gold and Vintage

The ville Lumière is the city of gold, of Louis XIV, which made the history of furniture and decor. The vintage is essential to decorate the house in French style, and if there is a bit ‘of gold it’s even better.
White walls

If the ceiling is high, there is nothing better than an all-white room to emphasize this feature, the Parisian house has white walls: beige lovers may abstain, thanks.
Black details

If the walls are white, the black details are those that make the difference, delicate and elegant: pure chic.
Boiserie

Boiserie is definitely one of the latest industry trends: the boiserie is perfect for large white walls. If you want to decorate the house in french style or Parisian Style, use it!
Unfinished

Leave something unfinished: a mirror placed on the floor, a half-empty corner … something indicating spontaneity and ‘workinprogressness’.
Herringbone parquet

The single-herringbone parquet has an absolutely not obvious effect. The wood pieces have their short sides cut at a 45° angle and the effect of light is wonderful.
Contrast modern – old

A French-style living room must contain ancient and old elements in opposition and in perfect balance.
Chandelier lamp

The chandelier is a perfect element for a Parisian-style house: it can be found at flea markets and it is wonderful.
The fireplace

The French-style living room is arranged all around the fireplace, so if you have it, enhance it!
Rug

Another item that can not be missed in a Parisian-style house is a carpet: simple and monochrome, it must be very big.
Now, wouldn’t you want a living room like this?
