Design, furniture, decoration. 2018 will be a year full of events for all of us interior design professionals. To make order in my head I looked for the most important events of the year in Europe and I thought about sharing my research here on the blog.

The trade fairs are a unique opportunity to understand trends and discover the news coming from independent companies and designers: they are an opportunity for updating and also a chance to meet new people and realities.

Here is my calendar:

Heimtextil 

Francoforte, 9-12 january 2018
Heimtextil is the largest international trade fair specialized in textiles for home decoration and contract. From bed linen to coverings for furniture, passing from table accessories:allyoucantexture paradise.

Imm Cologne

Colonia, 15-21 january 2018
Imm cologne is the first fair of the year dedicated to interior design: Paris and Cologne are competing for the revelation of the 2018 trends. This year I decided to visit them both and then I can give my personal opinion.

Maison&Objet

Parigi, 19-23 january 2018
If Imm Cologne is the interior decoration fair, the Parisian fair is recognized for its wide range of products: furniture, textiles, fragrances, children’s furniture, clothing and accessories for the person.

Homi

Milano, 26-29 january 2018
The new Macef, Homi is the fair dedicated to the home and lifestyles: it is the only must visit in Italy for those who have a concept store or a gift shop, but in recent years has lost a little ‘cloth, leaving at Maison & Objet, the scepter of the leading fair with a 360 ° offer.

I hope I can go and change my mind.

Ambiente

Francoforte, 9-13 february 2018

Ambiente is the leading international trade fair dedicated to consumer goods. Dining, Giving and Living (Dining, Donating and Living) are the three sectors that make up the fair: from the table setting to kitchen accessories through the world of jewelry, gift ideas and interior design in general.

Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair

Stoccolma, 6-10 febbraio 2018
The Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair is the largest fair in Northern Europe, leader in Scandinavian design.

Salone del Mobile e Milano Design Week

Milano, 17-22 aprile 2018
The Salone del Mobile in Milan is the Italian pride of design: considered by most the INTERNATIONAL EVENT NOT TO BE MISSED, it is actually the most important furniture and design fair in the world. During the third week of April the city comes alive with events distributed on the various Fuorisalone circuits and for 6 days in Milan you can breathe the creative ferment of these years.

Clerkenwell Design Week

Londra, 22-24 maggio 2018
The Clerkenwell District is one of the most densely populated neighborhoods of design firms and architectural studios in the world. To celebrate this rich and diverse community, Clerkenwell Design Week has created a showcase of important British and international brands and companies presented in a series of events, exhibitions and special installations taking place throughout the area.
I was at Clerkenwell Design Week last year and I recommend it mainly to contract designers.

Design Miami/

Basilea, 12-17 giugno 2018
Design Miami / is the global collector design forum. The fair, which joins Art Basel, brings together the most influential collectors, gallerists, designers, curators and critics from all over the world to celebrate the culture and trade of design. Design Miami / is a design market, during which the best galleries in the world come together to present museum-quality exhibitions of furniture, lighting and art objects of the 20th and 21st centuries.

Maison&Objet e Paris Design Week

Parigi, 7-12 settembre 2018
Second annual edition of Maison & Objet: the format is the same as in January. The collections change, and the city changes, which in September hosts the Paris Design Week, an event full of events and exhibitions of the highest quality.

Habitare

Helsinki, 12-16 settembre 2018

Habitare is the largest interior decoration and design event in Finland and attracts more than 55,000 visitors each year. The product categories presented at Habitare are: materials and finishes, furniture and accessories, bathrooms and saunas.

Feria Hábitat

Valencia, 18-21 settembre 2018
Habitat is the most important furniture fair in Spain and is proposed as a container for new ideas and trends in the fields of furniture, lighting and textiles.

100% Design e London Design Festival.

Londra, 19-22 settembre 2018
100% Design is the fair dedicated to design and furniture for the home. The fair is organized in 5 sections: Interiors, Workplace, Emerging Brands, Design & Build and Kitchens, Bedrooms & Batrooms. Next to the fair is the London Design Week which is often full of ideas and stimuli, especially in the field of independent design.

Cersaie

Bologna, 24-28 september 2018
Cersaie, the International Exhibition of Ceramic Tile and Bathroom Furnishings, offers all the latest news in the ceramic and bathroom furniture sectors.
I have been working at Cersaie for two years and I can say that it is one of the most interesting and informative fairs for an interior design professional.

Dutch Design Week

Eindhoven, 21-29 ottobre 2018

Last of the year, for 9 days DDW promotes Dutch design by presenting the processes, experiments and ideas, responses and solutions created by 2500 national and international designers in an industrial location of great impact.
