Milano Design week is coming up, so I decided to give you an overview of the events not to be missed. Let’s start with Zona Sant’Ambrogio 2018, one of the youngest district of the Design week: with the 6th edition of DOUTDESign, it’s presenting an unpublished work by Franco Albini, called “La Poltrona Sospesa”.
DOUTDESign current edition aims to make young designer wonder about the current and future potential of design world. Class under35 is the target of the project, because it’s the one who can easily imagine an interconnected and accessible future, thanks to its knowledge and familiarity with technology.
Next to these new projects, Studio Albini Associati presents the little exhibition “La ricerca della Leggerezza” (in search of lightness), exactly in the Headquarter of San’Ambrogio. Referring to the base principle of Franco Albini, it’s showing the prototype of that Suspended Armchair I named just before. It has been conceived by Albini itself with Enea Manfredini and then redeveloped by the Studio. This armchair is an experimental design item, similar to others designed by the rationalist master all along his career.
Last but not least, the district organizes Inhabits – Milano Design City, in collaboration with DDN – Design Diffusion. This is an exhibition completely dedicated to modern solutions to inhabit the urban and domestic space. It takes inspiration from the World’s Fair, especially from the last century Milano triennials, and shows our possible future life. Parco Sempione is the perfect landscape to host these innovative solutions: house units, new materials, tecnologies and architectural installations.
Every event in Sant’Ambrogio is open from April 7th to April 22nd 2018.
